Notarized translation in 2020

 

I. Papers, documents eligible for notarization translation
- Papers and documents needing to be notarized must be the originals
- In cases where the originals of papers and documents are issued, notarized or certified by foreign competent agencies or organizations, they must be consular legalized according to the provisions of law; except for cases of exemption from consular legalization under treaties to which Vietnam is a member or on the principle of reciprocity.
Identification documents issued by foreign competent agencies or individuals such as passport, identity card or other documents such as permanent residence card, residence card, driving license, diploma , certificates and transcripts with diplomas, certificates are not consular legalization.
- Notarizing translations in the following cases:
+ The original is issued ultra vires or invalid; fake originals;
+ Papers and documents requested to be translated have been erased, modified, added, removed or damaged, old and incapable of clearly defining their contents;
+ Papers and documents requested to be translated are classified as state secrets; Papers and documents banned from dissemination according to law provisions.
II. Procedures for notarizing translations at the Notary Office
- Present the original papers, documents to be translated, notarized at the receiving section
- The receiving unit after checking papers and documents, if eligible, will schedule a time to return the results; If documents and papers are not eligible, they will return and additional instructions, providing eligible documents.
